Early and Moden Mode of Transport

LI: To correctly draw and label a diagram.

Today we were looking at the change of early and the modern mode of transport. We labeled the different parts of one of the land, sea, rail, and air. We also chose to do one of which were the interior, outside, or the engine. Give each example for the differences between the two.

I found this task ineresting because it’s how the helicopter designs changed throughout the years.

An interesting fact I learnt during this activity was the only reason they created this was to fly in the air at the slowest speed they could.

Evolution of Transportation

LI: To identify how technology has changed when we consider how it was fit for purpose.

Today we were looking at the change of technology. Over the past 100 years, technology has changed in order to make things easier. This is called fit for purpose. Transportation devices have become more convenient compared to their initial design.

1922 planes purpose is used to transport items through the air and became a easier and fast way of transport.

2022 planes purpose is to allow fast air travel to transport equipment, and to allow passengers to fly around the world.

We found this task interesting because it helps people understand what the changes were from 1922 to 2022.

Attempt New Things & Ask for Help

For PB4L, we are reminding ourselves why it is important to attempt to do new things and to ask for help. This session encourages students and people so that they can continue doing what they find interest in or so they can improve their academic performance.

It is important to attempt new things because trying new things would help you find your passion in sports, learning, etc…

It is important to ask for help because ask for help to get ahead…

I found this task interesting because this shows people why it is important to ask for help and try new things

Match Girls Strike of 1888

LI: To identify the significance of the Match Girls Strike of 1888.

Today we had a session with David, our PB4L leader. He was teaching us about the match girls strike of 1888. This Strike of 1888 explains the hardships that the match girls went through, this eventually led to a protest trying to raise awareness for women who don’t get appreciate their hard work by not getting paid.

I found this task interesting because we learned lots of stuff.

An interesting fact I learnt during this activity was  there is a group of people marching with a large banner. With a few men in the picture, it looks like they were making commandments to the women to march somewhere.

Firework provaction

Today we were learning about fireworks if they should be banned or should keep. Our group think we should banned fire works cause of fire hazards and scaring animals away. Our first thing we did was listing good things about fireworks. We think fireworks are good because they use it for events for cultuarl and chines new year. After we listed about why fire works are bad.  Then we put our three good idea abour fireworks and three bad ideas about fire works.

Then we had a group decusion about if we should banned them and see if we should keep them.  I found this activity cool cause how we learned about fireworks and how we should be safe from them.

Paper airplane and measurement

LI: To design and make a paper plane that will fly the furthest.

Our team challenge was to see who plane went the fartest. We analysed our data of the paper air planes we flew. The planes we designed were a jet plane. Our group designed multiple planes to verify which of the planes flew the best. The plane that went the furthest was f-16. Lastly we versed group by group and measured the flight distance accurately.

I found this task cool because we all had work with each other to make a good plane.

Something we could improve on with our plane is to try learn how to throw the plane which will make it go father away from our old distences.

Film Festival

Today pbs went to the movie thereator to watch the film festival. We watch films from Pt.England,Glenbrae and that. We watch all the movies from the school and enjoy them.

My favourite film festival was the in your head by Ruapotaka school. They were funny of how they act and the funny faces they were doing. Room 3 did an amazing job of the acting they did. I like the other movies we watch but i think that ws my number 1 favourite one.

Shilhoute bird

LI: To learn how to use tone, blending and different brush strokes with paint.

We have been learning how to corporate tones, blending and brush strokes with our art using paint. We chose a bird that is endemic to New Zealand and researched five facts about them. We chose birds because the New Zealand bird of the year award is going to be announced soon on the 31st of October. We looked through different videos that taught us about the technique used in order to get a nice background.

Narrator Perspective

LI: To rewrite the story of Cinderella using a different narrative perspective.

We have been continuing our learning about the different perspectives authors bring to a text. Our challenge today was to change the fairy tale of Cinderella from third person omniscient to second person.

Third person omniscient means the narrator is not a character but observed Second person means the story takes place from someone other than the main character’s perspective.

I found this activity fun  because we learn how to make a secound perspectie make senece.

5 Perpective

LI: To understand what types of perspective are used

This morning we have been learning about the different perspectives authors bring to a text. An example of a narrator’s perspective is first person. This is when the author uses words like I, me and we to describe the events.

Second person is talking about some else perspective. Some words for second person is, you, your and those will talk about what the person is doing because the narrator who use your or you or yourself will be talking about the character in the story. When your reading a story you can tell if it a second person if they are talking about the person perspective.

I found this activitve cool because of new cool words that can be use for a story.
